Abstract :
The use of collimated radiation in the near field to produce windowed illumination of test objects is demonstrated to be useful for obtaining experimental data from relatively isolated edges. This is accomplishing by illuminating only about one-third of the edge with a lens-collimated horn antenna. These measurements can be calibrated to yield absolute values for the edge diffraction coefficients for comparison with calculated predictions. The results is experimental data that are in excellent agreement with calculated data.<>
