Abstract :
Loop filter-free phase locked loop (PLL) method is proposed for estimating frequency and phase of an incoming wave using the Newton´s method and its performance is examined. The arrival wave is multiplied by estimated sine and cosine waves respectively and the resultant are input to integrators. The integrators´ outputs are used to provide the simultaneous equations about estimated error of frequency and phase by applying the least squares criterion. These simultaneous equations are nonlinear so Newton´s method is used for solving them iteratively. The application of Newton´s method provides accurate frequency and phase estimates.
