Abstract :
The author describes the advantages of the Symbolics Genera software environment and the animation and paint system from the Symbolics Graphics Division and discusses their use for the production of 3-D graphics. These offer not only application programs with an easy-to-learn user interface, but also accessibility and extensibility so advanced users can supply their own unique features. He examines the benefits provided by the open system architecture of the Genera programming environment.<>
