Abstract :
A computer model previously developed for mode-locked fibre grating lasers has been applied to external-cavity mode-locking of a novel laser structure that incorporates a curved active waveguide and a straight passive section in order to reduce facet reflectivity. The model is used to optimise the device parameters for high-power pulses with widths of order picoseconds.
