  • Abstract
This paper describes the design of a high flow rate electro-osmotic pump. An Electro-Osmotic Flow (EOF) is generated since the charges in the electric double layer are moved under the influence of an external electric field. As a channel becomes narrow, the flow speed increases. The flow rate, however, decreases owing to the reduction of the cross-sectional area. Meanwhile, if two or more channels are placed in parallel, the flow speed is the same as before. Therefore, it is possible to build the pump of high flow rate with putting small channels in parallel.
