Abstract :
Summary form only given. Ion generation can be accomplished in a number of ways including through field ion desorption and surface flashover. Both of these methods hold promise as exceptionally compact ion sources for numerous applications.Studies are being conducted at the University of Missouri to explore the capabilities of field ion desorption and surface flashover ion sources in highly compact form factors. Sources in varying configurations are being studied both experimentally and computationally. Results of these experiments and simulations will be presented.
