Abstract
In this paper, we present a new, general and analytical solution of Lorenz-Mie type for characterizing electromagnetic (EM) scattering by a radially multilayered gyrotropic anisotropic sphere. EM fields in each layer of the sphere are expanded as summation of an infinite series expressed in terms of vector spherical wave functions. The expansion coefficients are calculated by matching the boundary conditions on each interface´s surface. After the field expressions are obtained, radar cross sections for some specific cases are calculated to analyze the characteristics of EM scattering by a multilayered gyrotropic sphere and some new physics are explored.
