A research on the variation of chemical stability parameters of water quality in water distribution system can improve drinking water quality, and provide data for building water quality model. The water quality of Jinan water distribution system was investigated along the water flow path. Important water quality parameters related to chemical stability including dissolved oxygen, chlorine residual, total hardness, alkalinity, chloride, sulfate, fluoride ion, Fe, Mn were discussed. The Two water quality indices, Langelier saturation index and the Ryznar stability index, were calculated in order to evaluate the chemical stability of the drinking water samples.
