Abstract
This paper presents a new functional magnetic sorter using micromachined magnetic micro/nano tips for magnetic bead or biocell sorting in microfluidic systems. Magnetic interconnection technology using through-hole vias can hide fully integrated electromagnetic inductors underneath the device, so only magnetic micro/nano tips are exposed to integrated microchannels, which gives a wide flexibility in constructing microfluidic systems with the magnetic sorter. Using the developed magnetic sorter, magnetic beads have been functionally sorted.
