  • Abstract
    Small leaky wave antennas (LWA) using composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) have been investigated to achieve broadband operation. To improve the gain of LWA, this paper proposes the mushroom-shaped unit cell with parallel plate capacitor. The transmission and radiation characteristics are compared with the lumped capacitor model. The bandwidth of 75% and the minimum gain of 2.5 dBi are achieved in the case of three cells (0.4λ).
