Abstract
We studied the RCS reduction characteristics of a checkerboard structure configured with two different AMC unit cells with 180° reflection phase difference near its resonance frequency. A simple array factor formula is adopted to show the philosophy of the physical mechanism. Both the numerical and experimental results have been achieved and compared. Good agreement from results was obtained and the ability for RCS reduction rate of this composite AMC structure is over 10dB within 16-25GHz.
