Abstract :
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) performance measurement under three different types of environment is carried out. In this study, two WSN motes based on System on Chip (SoC) CC2530 at 2.4 GHz are used. The coverage prediction of those motes under different types of environment is calculated beforehand by using log-distance pathloss model. In this study, the relation between transmission range and system performance such as packet reception rate and symbol error rate are made in details. Based on measurement results, it can be inferred that two WSN motes deployed in outdoor environment with obstacles that possibly disrupt the travelled signal has effective communication range around 75 meter with very small error probability. Beyond the effective range, the packet reception rate will start to drop and error probability becomes greater.
