Abstract :
The present paper discusses the effect of inorganic filler (Kaolin clay) on electrical properties of low density polyethylene (LDPE), and experimentally, it can be demonstrated that inorganic filler could act as a deep trap originating from its interface with LDPE. The reasons for this are as following: Higher temperature peak of TSC in f-LDPE specimen disappears; inorganic filler-LDPE composition also exhibited better characteristics in inhibiting tree growth, improving the voltage endurance and the short-term breakdown behavior at higher temperature of polymer; This opinion was also supported by the result of TSC test on f-LDPE
