  • Abstract
It is pointed out that in recent years, the Black Liquor Recovery Boiler Advisory Committee (BLRBAC) and Factory Mutual (FM) requirements for burner management systems have become more complex. The PLC (programmable logic controller) has become the logical choice to manage these systems. However, the use of PLCs for such control requires careful selection, installation, commissioning, and start-up. These conclusions are derived from experience with such systems at Weyerhaeuser Paper Company´s mill in Springfield, OR. This experience is discussed.<>
