Abstract :
Aiming at the problems of vertical handover in heterogeneous network, an adaptive vertical handover algorithm based on user experience is presented. User experience is embodied by cost function including following parameters, cost, security, power-consumption, received signal strength and signal delay. Adaptive function is introduced to dynamically adjust the above weight values, thereafter to realize adaptation. Heterogeneous network model of WLAN and UMTS is constructed and the algorithm is simulated based on it. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can drastically decrease the frequency of handover in comparison with traditional vertical handover algorithm based on RSS, and then improves success ratio of handover and user´s experience in vertical handover.
