            Abstract :
Guidelines and suggestions are given for writing effective reports of independent research and development (IR&D) projects. Department of Defense reporting requirements and evaluation criteria are reviewed and interpreted. Key strategies are discussed for each section, and examples are presented of project narratives that result in better, more effective technical communication. Key ingredients for each section are summarized in a checklist that can be used by authors as an aid in report development
