Abstract :
The authors propose a fast and simple method for multidimensional fuzzy reasoning and present diagnostic techniques using multidimensional fuzzy reasoning. The reasoning is based on the iterative use of fuzzy modus ponens and fuzzy modus tollens. The present method chooses only one multidimensional implication among all combinations of multidimensional implications, so that the antecedent of the multidimensional implication selected is as close to the multidimensional premise given as possible. The number of applications of one-dimensional implication is substantially fewer than that of M. Sugeno and T. Takagi´s (1983) method. It is concluded that multidimensional fuzzy reasoning can be applied to failure prevention and diagnosis of complex industrial situations such as nuclear power plants in which human factors play an important role.<>
