Abstract :
In the field of poly-phase electric machines, a variety of stator winding alternatives is possible in terms of phase physical arrangements. The specific winding scheme, in addition to the number of phases, needs to be taken into account as far as the machine dynamic modeling is concerned. In particular, the vector-space decomposition (VSD) method, which is widely used for n-phase machine analysis, requires different transformation matrices to be used depending on the displacement angle between successive phases, as discussed in a companion work. The explicit forms of such matrices are illustrated in this paper, taking the VSD of a five-phase motor, for different possible phase arrangements, as a numeric case study and validation example.
