Abstract :
Amplitude, area and latency of the electrophysiological signals such as evoked potentials (EP), compound muscle action potentials (CMAP), etc., are very useful indicators in electrodiagnosis and studies. In this paper new indices are proposed, i.e., average coefficient index (ACI), summed coefficient index (SCI) and median latency index (MLI). Simulation results show they can represent amplitude, area and latency information respectively using approximation wavelet coefficients whose number is much smaller than that of the original signal. These indices show promise in application to automatic diagnosis, high resolution electrophysiological signal analysis and telemedicine
