In this paper, ferric chloride was used to solve the problem that the low removal of phosphorus in domestic sewage. In the study, the best dosage of the coagulants was analyzed, and the influence of pH, viscosity and membrane fouling resulted from the coagulants would be investigated. The results showed that the removal of phosphorus was best when concentration of the ferric chloride was 15mg/L, removal of total phosphorus (TP) and soluble phosphate of the effluent would be 94.67% and 95.17%; coagulants could reduce pH of the mixed liquor and the concentration should be below 30mg/L, but it did not impact chromaticity of the effluent. It was found that the addition of coagulants could lessen membrane fouling.
