Abstract
Although averaged responses are usually used to detect ERP (evoked related potential), the ERP component of a single response is required to assess time-varying subjects´ state in detail. Therefore we propose a new method of estimating the ERP component from a single response corrupted with background waves. The method estimates the ERP dipole of a single response by modifying the position of dipole applying the DP (dynamic programming) matching to the transitional pattern of ERP dipole in the brain and by detecting the projected components with reference to the dipole estimated from averaged response. Results of simulation indicated that the proposed method could estimate the ERP component from a single response by suppressing the influence of background wave on the dipole level. Results of the EEG data analysis showed that the sway of waveforms by background waves was suppressed and N1 component became prominent compared with original single response
