Abstract
New information technologies (NIT) allow faster and better communication between healthcare professionals and particularly between hospitals and general practitioners (GPs). The development of such liaisons do necessitate a clear understanding of the user requirements and expectations. The regional information servers we are developing, take account of these requirements but are also focused on reusable standardized technologies and security and confidentiality procedures. This paper discloses the results of the user requirements analysis and proposes the architecture of a regional information server, enhancing the security and confidentiality procedures
