Expanded graphite was prepared from the commercial expandable graphite by microwave irradiation at 1000 W for 60 s. The adsorption behavior of K-2BP from aqueous solution onto expanded graphite was investigated as a function of parameters such as initial K-2BP concentration, contact time, expansion volume, pH, adsorbent dosage and temperature. Adsorption of dyes onto EG was highly dependent on pH, temperature and adsorbent dosage, and its adsorption behavior met with the Langmuir isotherm equation well. The results showed that the expanded graphite could be employed as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of textile dyes from effluents.
