Electrocatalytic dechlorination of 2,4 dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP) in aqueous solution on palladium coated foam nickel electrode, prepared by electrodeposition method in electrolyte containing ImM PdCl2 and 3 mM NaCl with constant current was investigated. The results of Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) displayed a unsmooth electrode surface and metallic Pd species. The effects of initial reactant concentration and temperature in aqueous solution on ECH of 2,4-dichlorophenol were discussed. 2,4-DCP dechlorination experimental results show that, with the high current efficiency, conversion on the palladized foam nickel electrode was 62.6 %, under the conditions of a dechlorination current intensity of 5 mA, initial 2,4-DCP concentration of 1 mM, temperature of 40°C and dechlorination time of 180 min.
