The gelatin used in this experiment was extracted from chrome shavings. And gelatin microspheres (GMs) were synthesized by emulsion cross-linking method with glutaraldehyde as crosslinker. The adsorption property of heavy metal ions on GMs was researched by taking Cu2+ for example. The absorption process was fitting for the Freundlich equation. The study of Freundlich adsorption isotherms and thermodynamics showed that when the adsorption dosage of Cu2+ were 0.10 ~ 0.13mmol·g-1 at 293 ~ 333 K, adsorption enthalpy ΔH were positive, adsorption free energy ΔG were negative and adsorption entropy ΔS were over zero. This results indicated that the adsorption was an endothermic, spontaneous and entropy increase process.
