Magnetic powder-intensified activated sludge process (MPIAS) is an improved biological treatment technology for wastewater, in which the fine magnetic powder is added into the aeration tank of the conventional activated sludge process (CAS). In this experiment, MPIAS was used to treat with the domestic sewage under the condition of various magnetic powder dosages. Based on the experiment results, the impacts of magnetic powder dosage and aeration time on treatment effects of MPIAS were discussed. The results showed that the domestic sewage treatment effect of MPIAS was much better than that of CAS. For the domestic sewage used in the experiment, the best magnetic powder dosage was 100mg/L. Compared with CAS, the MPIAS could save 1/3 to 2/3 aeration time to reach the same treatment effects as CAS. Thus, it is indicated that MPIAS could increase the treatment ability per unit volume and has significant advantages in energy saving and emission reduction.
