Abstract
Learning Chinese calligraphy is a hard task, especially for beginners. Traditional methods of learning calligraphy usually bases on teaching face-to-face or teaching hand-by-hand. In order to let users learn how calligraphic character is written step-by-step and enjoy the art of calligraphy, we present an approach to animate its writing process by visualization methods. Based on the above research, an App is developed by which learners can exercise on iPad and the final evaluation result is given by the system according the similarity of structure and stroke order between the original image and user´s writing track. We put the system into use in some schools. The experiment result shows that it can improve the interest of learners and shorten the learning period.
