Abstract :
A simple square loop printed antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is proposed. Considering a return loss criterion of better than 9.5 dB, the antenna operates in two frequency bands: 1.73-2.50 GHz and 3.44-3.87 GHz. These bands represent 36.4% and 11.8% impedance bandwidths respectively. A parametric study has also been carried out by varying the spacing between the ground and the square loop to investigate its effect on the resonant frequency. Properties of the proposed antenna are studied through simulation and are experimentally verified. The operating frequency bands of the antenna are able to support PCS 1.85-1.99 GHz, UMTS 1.92-2.17 GHz, IMT 1.9-2.2 GHz, ISM 2.4-2.484 GHz and WiMAX 3.49-3.79 GHz bands.
