Abstract
This paper presents a control technique of the variable series capacitor (VSrC) using a neural network (NN). The NN trains the dynamics of the fuzzy controller proposed by the authors. Therefore the NN can improve power system stability without load angle information with a difficult measurement. The training signals for the NN are obtained by the optimum fuzzy controller searched by genetic algorithm (GA). The effectiveness of this control method is verified by simulation results of a multi-machine power system
