Glutaraldehyde cross-linked chitosan films were used as the absorbent for the removal of Congo red from aqueous solutions. The experiments were carried out in a batch system to optimize operation variables: concentration of cross linker agent, adsorbent dosage, Congo red concentration, time and temperature. The results indicated cross-linked chitosan film could successfully remove 96% of CR. The adsorption kinetics and equilibrium isotherms showed that the sorption processes were better fitted by pseudo-second order equation and Langmuir equation, respectively.
