Abstract :
This study reviews target features, facilities, and open source software applications in libraries; inclusive is paid to evaluation of Libraries Open Source Software (LOSS)-as known YABANA-in University of Isfahan (UI). In this study research method is a descriptive survey and the results are presented in two main sections. First section includes comments experts worked with UILOSS about its technical aspects such as safety, extensibility, reliability, and flexibility. This information is collected through a researcher-made checklist and inventory requirements with the free interviews with them. This section also introduces the various parts of UILOSS based on researcher practical work with this software. In the second part is provided view-points of UI expert librarians (informants), who work directly with LOSS about the capabilities, features, and deficiencies of this software. For data analysis is used of MINITAB 15 software in two levels of descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics is used at the level of Mean, Median, Standard Deviation, and etc. Inference statistics is used in the level of default tests about society mean and linear non-correlation test. It is concluded that UILOSS has good level of reliability and flexibility, but its safety and extensibility isn´t in a good level. UILOSS has major weaknesses in these sections: circulation, OP AC, and technical section (cataloging & classification) and it can´t satisfy the needs of libraries the well. There aren´t periodicals and acquisition sections in this software as important sections in library software.
