Tourism has been one of the fastest growing industries in recent years. As water resources have been broadly used in the tourism industry, it is inevitable that results in problem about water environment such as water pollution. Dongchang Lake Scenic Area is the most famous scenic resort in the border of western Shandong Province in China whose feature is Liaocheng Ancient City built in the Northern Song Dynasty and its surrounding water surface named Dongchang Lake. Several investigations have been made, with the aim of finding out the causes and consequences of water pollution because of tourism development. The results show that increasing numbers of tourists, relative service infrastructures, such as, shops, restaurants, and hotels, and in addition, insufficient management measures, result in water pollution. Countermeasures on water management approaches are suggested to deal with the current water pollution, and make tourism development sustainable.
