Abstract
An alternative approach for the evaluation of energy storage in power systems with stochastic sources is discussed. The concept is based on the theoretical derivation of the probability density function of the energy content in the storage device, where the nature of the stochastic source plays an important role. The usefulness of the proposed method lies in the evaluation of energy storage technologies on a probabilistic basis for power system studies. A simple example demonstrates the practical application. Finally, the work packages for future investigations on this subject are introduced
