Abstract
E-Health applications require communications systems and user interfaces with high technical capabilities to match the demand of emerging technological developments in the medical field. This paper focuses on the analysis of recent satellite-based telemedicine networks, making emphasis in its technical characteristic, e-health applications and services. Gives an overview of the actual trends of the state-of-the art wireless technologies according to the guidelines of the Global Economics Forum and to different workgroup´s workshops of International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and presents a perspective of network architecture to provide e-health applications and Services according with emerging state-of-the-art wireless technologies. Finally, an overview of some future applications is presented that takes advantage of the network capacity.
