Processes of steaming, curing, washing and other treatments required for the use of dye-printing could be eliminated, discharge of polluted water could be therefore reduced in pigment printing. Application performance of thickener directly affects the quality and cost of pigment printing. In the paper, by method of inverse emulsion polymerization, thickener CP for pigment printing was prepared from acrylic acid, methylacrylic acid and hexadecanol as main raw materials. From aspects of thickening ability, rheology, electrolyte resistance, performance of holding water and the final printing results, comparison tests were made with imports of PTF, and thickener CP was then applied to large-scale production test. The results shows that application performances of thickener CP are better than PTF. The printed fabric with the thickener CP has high color yield, excellent pattern definition and soft handle. Thickener CP is an environment-friendly pigment printing thickener of high-quality.
