Abstract :
This paper presents methods for calculating the reliability of distribution systems with distributed energy resources (DER). The impact of intentional islanding of the DER units on the reliability is studied in detail. Different levels of automation are considered, starting from the existing network and continuing with increasing levels of intelligence in the network. The role of the switching devices and of the restoration process is discussed in detail
