Abstract :
This paper presents a new method to find the optimum design of low-voltage distribution network, solving a optimum location problem of pole transformers and low-voltage line for minimizing sum of the initial investment cost and 30 years power loss costs by means of genetic algorithms (GA). The construction of pole transformers and low-voltage lines are arranged under the requirement that the voltage distribution along the low-voltage line remains within a predetermined tolerance level. The results are compared with those derived other previous methods. It is found that minimizing power loss in the network is needed in order to minimize the total cost consisting of initial investment cost and power loss cost
