Abstract
Spawned and driven by personal computers and mobile telephones, world appetite for power regulating, controlling and conserving chips has soared to staggering heights. This paper provides insight into future requirements in these bedrock applications, assesses emerging applications, and analyzes the size and growth of the market. Shipment revenues are expected to grow from about $3 billion in 1998, to almost $6.4 billion in 2003, at a 16.2% CAGR. The product categories studied are AC/DC off-line regulators, power factor correction preregulators, PWM/PFM controllers, DC/DC regulators, linear regulators, battery charging/management ICs, and ASIC
