In order to solve the current situation that vast ventilation air methane (VAM) emissions to the atmosphere , the vacuum pressure swing adsorption process was employed to concentrate the VAM. In this paper, adsorption isotherm for methane, nitrogen and oxygen have been measured on five types of active carbon. And their specific surface area have also been measured. The isotherm measurement is based on the static volumetric method. The result shows that all active carbons have methane selectivity on ventilation air methane, and they have similar adsorption characteristic on oxygen and nitrogen. AC4 has the highest adsorbance on methane, its specific surface area is 1201 m2/g. Then a two-column VPSA experiment setup for VAM enrichment was built. Three types of excellent active carbon were used to separation the VAM with the methane concentration of 0.3%, AC4 has the best separation effect. With the increase of the adsorption pressure, the concentration of the product increases. The VAM can be enriched to 0.75% with methane concentration of 0.2% in effluent gas at the adsorption pressure no more than 250 kPa abs.
