Abstract
In order to accelerate imaging process and lower overall system cost, many practical CT systems use single slice detectors and big-pitch helical scanning, especially in next generation Baggage Scanning system. Geometry shape detection is a very important function in this kind of systems. In this paper, we present an online 3D-plane detection solution for this kind of systems. We improved traditional Hough Line detection method and realized the 2.5D Hough Transform to detect the 3D plane. Finally, an implementation scheme of the 2.5D Hough Transform and 3D-plane detection using CUDA is presented. We achieve a 20 times speedup and the performance meets the requirement for practical applications. At last, we test the method on some real baggage scanning results. Our method works effectively in reality applications.
