Abstract :
A resonant type soft-switched/switched-reluctance motor drive circuit using capacitors is proposed. Since the circuit performs soft-switching by resonating a capacitor and a motor winding, the voltage across the winding can be higher than twice the DC source voltage. Hence the circuit produces less EMI due to the application of soft-switching, and the output torque is increased by means of higher voltage. Moreover, because the proposed circuit utilizes only one series switching device between the DC source and the winding, system efficiency is also increased
