Abstract
The electroluminescence during space charge recombination was investigated in this paper. The luminescent intensity was measured simultaneously at the moment that the polarized linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) samples were short-circuited. The sample was polarized for about half an hour, then the polarizing field intensity was reduced to a certain value, which was called the discharge field intensity in this paper. And then the sample was short-circuited. By varying the discharge field intensity, several results were found: a kind of light was detected during the short circuit; the light intensity is related to the discharge field intensity; the light was invisible to the human eye, and it was thought to be generated from space charge recombination, which was partly demonstrated by the equivalent capacitance decided (damped oscillatory) period of short-circuit current.
