Abstract :
A new algorithm for cone-beam reconstruction in the circular short-scan geometry is presented. Its main feature is that it handles data redundancies not with an explicit weighting scheme, but by making use of the properties of the involved filter kernels. The presented method follows the scheme of row-wise 1D filtering and 3D backprojection, is thus computationally efficient and not affected by axial data truncation. First reconstruction results from simulated and real data indicate that the presented algorithm can reduce the level of short-scan CB artifacts compared to the popular short-scan FDK method.
