Abstract
A new method which an uses expert system to perform the calculation for short circuit faults, is developed. This method needs no use of traditional node impedance matrices. Instead, it uses both logical inference and algebraic operations to do the calculation. The concepts of this method are clear and simple. The program of this expert system is written in the Turbo Prolog language. The correctness of the method is confirmed by an example
