Abstract
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was employed to test the existing forms of nitrogen in larch, urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin adhesive, and particle board made from larch wood and UF resin. The results show that: the existing forms of nitrogen in larch wood are amine family and pyrrolic structures, and nitrogen form in UF is only amine family. As expected that the forms of nitrogen in particle board made from larch wood and urea-formaldehyde resin are amine family and pyrrolic structures, and in which the percentage of amine nitrogen structures increased obviously comparing to the percentage in larch wood. The results of this study will contribute to the investigation of release characterization of nitrogen species during fast pyrolysis of wood based panel wastes.
