Abstract :
The transmission-line method (TLM) was applied to the solution of shielding problems commonly encountered in equipment cabinet design. A challenge problem developed by the TC-9 subcommittee includes the basic configuration of a box with an aperture. This problem was studied to ascertain emissions and shielding effectiveness. The impact of the introduction of shielding materials was also studied by simulation. A preliminary assessment of a second challenge problem involving radiation from a printed circuit board is also presented. The way-that TLM is applied to such problems is described and areas where further model development is necessary are identified
