Pyrite cinder, as a subsidiary product of sulfuric acid production by roasting of pyrite ores, are occupying much land and polluting environment. The utilization of pyrite cinder in iron ore pellets was studied in this paper. The results show that the qualified green pellets were obtained under the conditions of comprising 50% pyrite cinder and 50% magnetite concentrate, pelletizing at 1.8wt% bentonite and 13% moisture for 13 min. The final product, assaying 62.53%Fe and 0.009% sulfur content at crush strength of 2656 N/pellet, was achieved under the conditions that the dried pellets were preheated at 900°C for 9 min and roasted at 1200°C for 15 min in tube furnace. The final product also possesses excellent metallurgy performance, which can be used the burden for blast furnace.
