Abstract :
Aluminum conductors and aluminum alloys, with special magnetic coatings represent outstanding advantages for modern aircraft: they improve at the same time chemical performance (contact quality and life expectancy), mechanical performance (protection of the conductor during high temperature insulation), and low pass performance (artificial skin effect). All European AIRBUS planes use now for a part of their power distribution, a first generation of such wires, in cables and harnesses: they show low pass performance, in the range of 10 to 20 dB/m at the frequency of 1 GHz. The lesser weight of aluminum and aluminum alloy, has been the determinant advantage for such applications. The development of a second generation, dubbed “ALUSORB”, with the same attenuation for 100 MHz, is now under consideration
