Abstract :
A new model has been developed to describe behaviour of disk lasers. We have derived analytic expressions from a set of coupled rate equations which include the effects of the pump and the laser states simultaneously in order to investigate the influence of the effective parameters on the operational efficiency of a high gain, end-pumped quasi-three-level Yb:YAG disk laser. Based upon our results, we have examined laser output power as a function of thickness and doping concentration of the disk, number of pump beam passes, and absorbed pump power.
