  • Abstract
We propose a new algorithm for evaluating guided missile destroyer by catastrophe series based on fuzzy scales, which is a multiple criteria decision making approach in a fuzzy environment. We use the triangular fuzzy number to indicate the relative strength of the elements in the hierarchy, and build fuzzy judgement vectors through comparison of the performance scores. We derive the priority among the alternatives by the catastrophe series through the use of interval arithmetic, α-cuts, and index of optimism β to estimate the degree of satisfaction of the judgement. Our method does not require the fuzzy subjective weight vector with the corresponding criteria. Catastrophe series is used to evaluate the multi-goal decision making problems. We derive an extension formula for decision making problems with 5 criteria, that is wigwam catastrophe model. In this way, a fuzzy decision problem can be solved and a weapon system selection example is used to illustrate our method
